The author holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Cadiz. The doctoral thesis, titled 'Influence of NOX Emission Content on Combustion Performance in Marine Diesel Engines,' was awarded a 'Cum Laude' qualification by unanimous decision on March 30, 2007. Throughout my professional career, I worked on board until achieving the title of 2nd Officer of the Merchant Navy. Subsequently, I was awarded a 4-year scholarship from the Ministry of Education to train as teaching and research staff. This led me to shift my focus towards teaching and research. I have been a university-level instructor since 2004, initially as an FPDI fellow and since 2008 as a PSI. I continue to teach subjects within my field at UCA. These subjects vary over time and include regulated face-to-face and distance courses. I have also organized, spoken at, and been a guest lecturer for courses, workshops, seminars, and conferences related to these areas at both specialization and postgraduate levels. Additionally, I have taught maritime specialization courses and university expert courses totaling 900 hours. I have been affiliated with the University of Cádiz since 2004, initially as a scholar, then as a professor, and currently as an associate professor. Regarding research, I began with my doctoral thesis, during which I conducted in situ measurements on board ships. Since its creation, I have been a member of the research group RNM 920 Energy Efficiency in Maritime Transport, and as of November 2019, I have been its director. Prior to this, I was a member of the Environmental Technology Group TP120 since 2004. I have participated as a researcher in various national and international research projects, and in the last three years, since 2020, I have been a PI. This was not possible previously due to the nature of my employment contracts and not having a permanent link with the university. I have participated in OTRI projects with companies and organizations as a researcher and responsible.

Juha-Pekka ("Jussi") Luntama is the Head of the Space Weather Office in ESA's Space Safety Programme. He graduated from Helsinki University of Technology in 1991 and continued working in the University as a lecturer and leader of the small satellite technology research group until 1997, when he was awarded a EUMETSAT Research Fellow position in the UK Meteorological Office. In 1998 Jussi Luntama was appointed as the Mission Scientist for the GRAS radio occultation instrument onboard the Metop meteorological satellite series in EUMETSAT HQ in Germany. In 2005 he moved from EUMETSAT to Finnish Meteorological Institute to lead the research on space weather impacts on GNSS applications. Jussi Luntama joined ESA in 2009 when he was selected as the manager of the Space Weather Segment in ESA’s new Space Situational Awareness Programme, the predecessor of the Space Safety Programme that is in progress now. Space Weather Office is responsible for all space weather related activities in ESA Directorate of Operations. The responsibilities of Space Weather Office include definition, architecture design and implementation of the ESA Space Weather System and delivery of the corresponding services. Space Weather Office is also responsible for development of software applications, ground systems, hosted payload instruments and dedicated SmallSat and nanosatellite missions for the ESA Space Weather System. The Space Weather Office is also responsible for liaising with international entities and representing ESA in international forums on space weather related topics. Mr. Luntama is also the Mission Scientist and Mission Manager for the Lagrange mission that is in preparation to provide unprecedented space weather monitoring data for operational applications from the 5th Lagrangian point, L5.

Tim is Director of Education & Public Engagement at AUI where he manages the development and implementation of innovative STEM Education efforts. He currently serves as Principal Investigator on seven active projects. Tim also leads ongoing collaborations with the Nigerian National Space Research & Development Agency, National Society of Black Physicists, Cortes-Solari Foundation, International Astronomical Union, and numerous others. Prior to his role with AUI, he taught astronomy and earth sciences at the high school and university levels and served as a K–12 Science Supervisor. Tim has received the Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship, American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics Educator Achievement Award, Tandy Technology Scholars Award, and the Pennsylvania Christa McAuliffe Fellowship. He holds a doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction from West Virginia University, and a master’s degree in Science Education from Clarion University of PA. He is focusing on the satellite systems of the giant planets and the Jovian Trojans. The project included adapting a taxonomic technique called Cladistics for use in the planetary sciences. I also used n-body simulations to examine the dynamics of the Jovian Trojans, within a taxonomic context. My hope is to provide a reference frame for future uses of Astrocladistics in Planetary sciences, as well as the exploration of the Jovian Trojans. In a broader context, I am interested in the taxonomy and dynamics of Solar system bodies, as well as Exoplanets. Currently I am located at the South-west Research Institute in Boulder, CO.

Dr. Hina Kazmi has over 25 years of aerospace industry experience, spanning both public and private sectors in various technical and management roles. Her expertise encompasses managing large technical and multi-contractor telecommunication satellites and NASA's science missions. She also led the implementation of various institutional policies and studies at NASA Headquarters in response to congressional actions. Hina achieved her PhD in Public Policy from George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government, for which she received the Joseph A Fischer award for best doctoral dissertation in policy upon graduation. Her academic research focuses on management of government programs and functions in the context of government outsourcing and institutional economics. She is an adjunct faculty member with the Schar school and teaches the graduate course in Managing Government Contracting. She also holds two master’s degrees, MPP and MBA. She received her undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering with minor in Mathematics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). She also serves as a member on ERAU’s Philanthropy Council for Engineering which provides scholarship funds for various student projects advancing engineering skills in the aerospace sector.

MAJ Nicholas Deschenes graduated from Florida Institute of Technology in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Astrophysics and Astronomy. Immediately upon commissioning as a signal branch detailed armor officer, he was selected to participate in a Mandarin Chinese linguistics program from which he graduated top of his class. Upon completion of the Armor Basic Officer Leaders Course and Army Reconnaissance Course, MAJ Deschenes was assigned to 2nd Squadron 14th Calvary Regiment, 2nd STRYKER Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, Hawaii where he served as an assistant operations officer, Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, a liaison and contracting officer to the Singaporean Army, and the Squadron's Director of Communications (S6). In 2016 he was selected for and transitioned his military operational specialty (MOS) to Army Space Operations (FA 40A). His inaugural assignment as an FA40 after graduating from the Signal Captain Career Course was to the Current Operations Division of the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command at Peterson [Space] Force Base, Colorado. He served as the lead planner to man, train, and equip Army Space Control Operations globally. In this capacity he was also attached to the United States Africa Geographic Combatant Command's Operations Staff as the Senior Army Space Officer. MAJ Deschenes then attended graduate school for 16 months at Johns Hopkins University, earning a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering concentrating on photonics and optoelectronics. His research in graduate school focused on developing a calibration scheme for thermal imaging microbolometers measuring temperature fluctuations within 1oC across silicate glass being non-uniformly heated by 100-Watt CO2 laser simulating atmospheric plasma conditions to generate models mitigating optical propagation diffraction effects at hypersonic speeds.

Erik Seedhouse is a professor in Space Operations at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. After completing his first degree he joined the 2nd Battalion the Parachute Regiment. During his time in the ‘Para’s’, Erik spent six months in Belize, where he trained in the art of jungle warfare. Later, he spent several months learning the intricacies of desert warfare in Cyprus. He made more than 30 jumps from a Hercules C130 aircraft, performed more than helicopter 200 abseils and fired more light anti-tank weapons than he cares to remember! Upon returning to academia, he embarked upon a Master’s degree, which he supported by winning prize money in 100km running races. After placing third in the World 100km Championships in 1992, Erik turned to ultra-distance triathlon, winning the World Endurance Triathlon Championships in 1995 and 1996. For good measure he won the World Double Ironman Championships in 1995 and the infamous Decatriathlon, an event requiring competitors to swim 38km, cycle 1800km, and run 422km. Non-stop! In 1996, Erik pursued his Ph.D. at the German Space Agency’s Institute for Space Medicine. While studying he found time to win Ultraman Hawai’i and the European Ultraman Championships as well as completing Race Across America. Due to his success as the world’s leading ultra-distance triathlete Erik was featured in dozens of magazine and television interviews. In 1997 GQ magazine named him the ‘Fittest Man in the World’. In 1999 Erik took a research job at Vancouver's Simon Fraser University. Between 2008 and 2013 he served as Director of Canada’s manned centrifuge and hypobaric operations. In 2009 he was one of the final 30 candidates in the Canadian Space Agency’s Astronaut Recruitment Campaign. Erik holds a pilot license, is a certified PADI divemaster, works as an astronaut instructor for the International Institute of Astronautical Sciences, an instructor for Project PoSSUM, as an occasional film consultant to Hollywood, a professional speaker, triathlon coach and author with more than 30 books to his name. He also serves as a consultant to myriad television productions and as a science advisor to the Proteus Ocean Group. In the summer he usually ventures into the mountains – he has reached the summits of Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Denali, Elbrus, Rainier, Island Peak and several others. In 2022 he reached the South Summit of Everest. Sanderson César Macedo Barbalho received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in operations management from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, Brazil. His Ph.D. degree was in new product development from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, in 2006; he worked for 10 years as a development engineer and engineering manager. He made part of the design team for three satelite cameras. He managed the Multiespectral Camera for CBERS3&4 Sattelite. He has been a Professor at the University of Brasilia, Brazil, since 2012. Nowadays, he is Head of Laboratory for Innovation, Projects and Processes at the University of Brasilia, and coordinator for the Master and Doctorate Program of Mechatronic.

Ljiljana Trajković received her Dipl.lng. degree from the University of Pristina, Yugoslavia, her M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering and computer engineering from Syracuse University, New York, and her Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles. She is currently a professor in the School of Engineering Science, Simon Fraser University, Canada. She has been a pilot for over 10 years. Her passion for aviation started as a glider pilot with the Belgian Air Cadets. During her master's degree in space studies, her focus shifted from aviation to space. Kato has been an analogue astronaut on several missions where she performed the roles of Vice-Commander and Commander. In early 2023, she began her role as Director of Operations for the HI-SEAS habitat. The Lunar-like lava field and analog space research are a very exciting and interesting work environment for her. Her hobbies include hiking, traveling and all kinds of adventures.
