Biography
Jean Maruani is a French physicist and chemist, who has made significant contributions to the fields of quantum chemistry, molecular physics, and quantum systems. He is an Honorary Director of Research at the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) in France, and a former Professor at the University of Paris-Sud and the École Normale Supérieure. He is also the founder and president of the Center for Applied Wave Mechanics (CMOA), and the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Quantum Chemistry. He has authored or co-authored more than 500 scientific publications and 25 books, and has received numerous awards and honors, such as the CNRS Silver Medal, the Humboldt Prize, the Paul Langevin Prize, and the Grand Prix of the French Academy of Sciences. He is also a member of several academies and societies, such as the European Academy of Sciences, the Royal Society of Chemistry, and the International Academy of Quantum Molecular Science. He is widely recognized as a leader and pioneer in the development and application of quantum methods and concepts to various systems in chemistry, physics, and biology. He has organized and participated in many international conferences and workshops, such as the Quantum Systems in Chemistry, Physics, and Biology (QSCP) series, which he initiated in 1996. He is also a mentor and a teacher to many young researchers and students, who have benefited from his scientific and human qualities.
