Biography
Shi-Chune Yao is a professor emeritus in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. His research interests are mainly in multiphase flow and heat transfer. This is closely related to energy and thermal control industries. He works on both experimental and theoretical research on subjects that are important to industry but are fundamental in nature. Yao is active in the development of micro-scale energy systems using MEMS technology. He models and develops micro-scale refrigeration systems on silicon chips and the two phase fluidics in micro-scale direct methanol fuel cells. As a member of the NextManufacturing Center, he also works on the thermal modeling of additive manufacturing of metal products, including the micro to macro scale.

Dr. Sam H.-Y. HSU obtained his Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Prof. Kirk S. SCHANZE at the University of Florida focusing on photophysical behaviors of functional metallopolymer materials for solar energy and optoelectronic applications. After that, he received the two-year postdoctoral and research associate appointments respectively with Prof. Allen J. BARD and Prof. Edward T. YU in the Center for Electrochemistry as well as the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. During the period as his postdoc and research associate, he completed many outstanding multidisciplinary projects. The area of his expertise stretches from material design to new related disciplines involving material characterization and diverse applications, such as solar fuels, organic and inorganic photovoltaic cells, wastewater treatment, and food waste management.

Sorin Vlase is a retired professor of Mechanics since 2022. Between 1996 and 2022 was a full professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania. In 1989, he got his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, from the Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania. He became PhD leader, having more than ten finalized PhD thesis and one actual/active PhD student. He was active educational staff member along 45 years at the same Transilvania University of Brasov, starting as an assistant, lecturer, associate professor, as well as full professor. He performed lectures and applications in Mechanics, Finite Element Method, Computational Mechanics, Stability, Elasticity, and Numerical Methods. His research interest include (a) dynamic analysis; (b) Finite Element Method; (c) mechanics of composite materials; (d) Modal Analysis and Vibrations. He is author and co-author of more than 200 Web of Science journal papers and more than 20 courses and monographies. He gave some invited and plenary lectures abroad. He currently activates as a Ph.D. leader at the same university, having also several international scientific co-operations based on the aforementioned topics. He is a member of the Romanian Academy of Technical Sciences since 2012.

Ioan Száva is a retired professor since 2019. Between 2000 and 2019 was a full professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania. In 1993, he got his Ph.D. in Internal Combustion Engines for Automotive Engineering, from the Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania. In 2001 became a Ph.D. leader, having eight finalized Ph.D. theses and one actual/active Ph.D. student. He was an active educational staff member for 45 years at the same Transilvania University of Brasov, starting as the assistant, lecturer, associate professor, as well as full professor. He performed lectures and applications in Strength of Materials, Mechanical Vibrations, and Experimental Methods of Solid Bodies. His research interest include: (a) stress-strain states of solid bodies subjected to loads applied in static-, quasi-dynamic and dynamic conditions; (b) classical experimental methods (strain gauges-, Moiré-fringes-, etc.), as well as modern ones (ESPI/Shearography, Video Image Correlation) involved in mechanical characteristics evaluation of steel, human tissues, wood-based, and composite materials; (c) fire resistance evaluation of the unprotected- and protected (with intumescent paint) steel structural elements, involving different experimental methods as well as of the Modern Dimensional Analysis; (d) Additive Manufacturing products’ stress-strain states- and stiffness optimization by means of the Modern Dimensional Analysis. He is the author and co-author of more than 75 journal papers and 153 conference articles. He gave some invited and plenary lectures abroad. He currently activates as a Ph.D. leader at the same university, having also several international scientific co-operations based on the aforementioned topics.

Matteo Benedetti is an associate professor in Machine Design at the University of Trento, where he has been since 2007. In 2004 he got his PhD in Materials Engineering from the University of Trento. From 2003-2004 he was a visiting researcher at the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg (Germany). His research interests include (a) characterization and modelling of the mechanical behaviour of materials under static and cyclic loadings, (b) manufacturing-related fatigue issues in 3D printed cellular lattice materials, (c)measurement and modelling of residual stress fields and their incorporation into fatigue design, (c) structural integrity of machine elements and structural details. He co-authored more than 90 journal papers and 120 conference articles. He gave some invited seminars and plenary lectures. He served as the chairman of the Technical Division “Residual Stresses†of the Society for Experimental Mechanics (USA). He currently serves as Associate Editor for the journals "Material Design & Processing Communication" and "Additive Manufacturing Letters".

Dr. Michele Palermo is a senior assistant professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Bologna, Italy. His MSc (2010) and PhD (2014) in Civil Engineering are from the University of Bologna. Between 2009-2010 he carried out an internship at the US firm Degenkolb Engineering (Los Angeles, California). In 2011 and 2014 he was visiting researcher at the University of Granada (Spain) and Berkeley (California), to investigate the seismic behavior of structures made of RC sandwich walls. His current research interests include seismic engineering (mainly viscous dampers and structural health monitoring of historical constructions and infrastructures) and use of automation and metal additive manufacturing (Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing technology) in construction. . He is member of the European TG8 task group: Seismic Behaviour of irregular and complex structures, of the ASTM committee F42 on Additive Manufacturing and of the European COST action Circular B. He is coordinating the research group on Automation and Additive manufacturing in Construction at University of bologna (Additive Manufacturing and Automation in Construction (unibo.it). He is currently involved in several national and European projects dealing with metal AM.

Abdollah Saboori was a visiting researcher at the University of Birmingham-UK in 2016 and then completed his Ph.D. with honors in 2017 in the field of Materials Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino in Italy. He is currently an Assistant Professor in Additive Manufacturing at the Politecnico di Torino. He is an editorial board member of several international journals in metallurgy and materials engineering and a member of the scientific committee of several international conferences. Abdollah Saboori is an author of more than 80 articles in the field of material engineering and new manufacturing processes in Scopus-indexed journals and has a US patent in the field of ceramic AM. In recent years, he has won several international awards for his research in the field of materials engineering. One of the most prestigious honours is his consecutive presence in the list of the top 2% Scientists in the world in 2021 and 2022. His research deals with the relationship between the properties of metal materials and additive manufacturing processes. He has participated in several regional and European research projects in the field of additive manufacturing processes and has extensive collaborations with several international research institutions and companies

Dr. Qi Liu is a Research Associate, working in the Ultra Precision Manufacturing of advanced materials at the Center for Precision Manufacturing at the University of Strathclyde (UoS) since 2021. Before joining the UoS, Dr. Qi Liu finished his Ph.D. study at the Harbin Institute of Technology, China, and spent two years (2018~2020) at the University of Nottingham as a visiting Ph.D. student. Dr. Qi Liu has established an international reputation in ultra-precision manufacturing of advanced materials, as evidenced by more than 40+ papers in peer-reviewed highly ranked journals (e.g., Int. J. Mach. Tool ManuandMaterials & Design) and international conferences. Dr. Qi Liu is the topic Guest Editor of Materials (SCI) the Glasgow Young member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), a member of the International Society of Bionic Engineering (ISBE), also amember of the Organizing Committee of the 8th International Conference on Nanomanufacturing & the 4th AET Symposium on ACSM and Digital Manufacturing (nanoMan2022 & AET 2022. Dr. Qi Liu also served as the Reviewer for lots of SCI journals including Int. J. Mach. Tool Manu., Materials and Design, ACS Appl Mater Inter, Opt. Express, Appl. Optics.

Professor and Researcher at CESI Graduate School of Engineering in Paris, France, a position I have held since September 2021. I earned my Ph.D. in Signal and Image Processing from Telecom Paris Tech, France, in January 2004. Subsequently, I dedicated 17 years to teaching, research and supervision in the Faculty of Engineering at the Lebanese University. My core competencies encompass Speech and Image Processing, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics and Networking. Recently, I have delved into the realm of Additive Manufacturing (AM) or 3D printing. This technology plays a pivotal role in Industry 4.0, and my research focuses on its environmental impact while aligning with sustainable development goals. Furthermore, I am actively engaged in research related to Artificial Intelligence, with particular emphasis on monitoring production quality through Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF).

Rúben Pereira is an Assistant Professor of Biomaterials at ICBAS – Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar (University of Porto) and Assistant Researcher at the Biofabrication Group at i3S – Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde. He holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences with a specialization in 3D bioprinting of cell-instructive hydrogel bioinks. Rúben Pereira has been collaborating with the pharmaceutical industry in the design of biomaterials for skin repair and has been invited as a professor atPolytechnic Institute of Leiria (ESSL) and the University of Porto(ISEP). He has also been involved in research projects supported by the industry, and national and international agencies in the fields of bioengineering, 3D bioprinting, and tissue engineering. His research interests focus on the development of dynamic hydrogels and bioinks for the bioprinting of biomimetic cell microenvironments and in vitro tissue models for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications, in particular, to address relevant challenges in skin healthcare.

João Pedro Oliveira is currently an assistant professor at the Materials Science Department of FCT/NOVA, Portugal. Prior to his current appointment at FCT/NOVA, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Welding Engineering program of The Ohio State University, United State. He did his Ph.D. in laser welding of shape memory alloys at FCT/NOVA, while being a visiting researcher at the Center of Advanced Materials Joining of the University of Waterloo, Canada. His research interests focus on welding and fusion-based additive manufacturing of advanced engineering materials, with a special scientific interest in less conventional engineering alloys such as shape memory and high entropy alloys. His research group is also heavily invested in the use of high-energy synchrotron X-ray diffraction for fine probing of the material microstructure ex-situ or in situ. He currently supervises 10 Ph.D. students in the areas of welding and additive manufacturing. He is also an Associate Editor of Additive Manufacturing (Elsevier).

Ana Beatriz Lopez has a MSc in Mechanical Engineering since 2015, by Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon and also holds a PhD in “Leaders for Technical Industries†from MIT Portugal Program. Her thesis was focus on "Quality Assurance for Wire and Arc Additive Manufacturing", being her research interest focus on additive manufacturing and non-destructive testing. She is part of EWF team since 2019 and is currently managing the International Additive Manufacturing Qualification System, being also involved in the implementation of international collaborative projects in the additive manufacturing field.

Geoffrey Mitchell is a Professor and Vice-Director of the Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development at the Polytechnic of Leiria in Portugal. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Department of Polymer Science and Engineering in Mysore India, and Visiting Medical Physicist at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Oxford UK. Geoffrey Mitchell carried out his doctoral work at the University of Cambridge in the UK. Subsequently, he held a post-doctoral fellowship at Cambridge and a JSPS Fellowship at Hokkaido University in Japan. Prior to his current position, he was a Professor of Polymer Physics at the University of Reading, UK, and from2005 the founding Director of the Centre for Advanced Microscopy at Reading. His research bridges physics, biology, chemistry, and technology and he is passionate about the opportunities afforded by Additive Manufacturing. He is a Fellow of both the Institute of Physics and the Royal Society of Chemistry as well as the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, and a Member of the Institute for Physics and Engineering of Medicine

Dr. Manoj K. Patel has received his B.Tech degree from NIT Jamshedpur and completed his PhD from Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR). He is currently working as Principal Scientist in CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh. Dr. Patel has started his research career in charged particulate technology, electro-hydrodynamics of liquid sprays and aerodynamics of charged particulate matter. His current research interests are electrostatic liquid atomization, airborne charged particulate technology, surface decontamination, food safety and nutrition, green energy, precision agriculture, UAVs and aerial electrostatic spraying, autonomous robotic systems for agricultural tasks and social innovations. Dr. Patel has three (03) patents, one (01) design registration and several research articles in refereed journals and conferences. He is a project leader of various national and international projects funded by Research Foundation, CSIR, USISTEF, SERB, IDP, NIF, DST, Govt. of India and industries. He has transferred eight (08) technology know-how to various industries for commercial production and created three (03) startups. Dr. Patel has received several awards, the most prominent are: BRICS Young Scientist Award 2022, CSIR Young Scientist Award 2020, IETE-Hari Ramji Toshniwal Award 2020, IEI Young Engineers Award 2019, NRDC National Societal Innovation Award 2017, Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (GYTI) Award 2016, SKOCH Smart Technology Award 2015. He is a recipient of Post Graduate Research Program for Engineers (PGRPE) Fellowship, from CSIR (2010-2012) and TATA Cummins Meritorious Scholarship from TATA CUMMINS (2009-2010). Dr. Patel is a Fellow of Indian Social Science Academy (ISSA) and The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE). He is a member of various professional societies such as National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), The Electrostatic Society of America (ESA), Vigyan Bharati (VIBHA), The Institution of Engineers (IEI), Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers (ISAE), The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) etc. At a very young age, he has shown his leadership capabilities and served as a member of advisory board of The World Space Council and The Biostandups. He is serving as a member, International Advisory Board (IAB), Polytechnic of Leiria, Portugal and an External Member, Board of Studies (BoS), National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur.

Dr. R.M. Chandima Ratnayake is a Professor (in Mechanical Engineering) (100%) in the Department of Mechanical & Structural Engineering and Materials Science (IMBM), University of Stavanger (UiS) – Norway. He has a B.Sc. degree in Production Engineering, M.Sc. degree in Manufacturing Engineering and PhD degree in Offshore Engineering. Professor Ratnayake also worked as a Specialist Engineer – Akersolutions (until September 2020), Norway; ‘Senior Technical Integrity Management Advisor, Wood Group Integrity Management, Wood Group Kenny Norway AS (2014-2019) and a ‘Maintenance Engineering Specialist’ (20%) in ApplySørco, AS (2012.11-2014.02), Norway and as a ‘Senior Engineer’ in AkerSolutions Offshore Partner (2009-2011), Stavanger, Norway. He also served in the capacities of Associate Professor, visiting Associate Professor and Assistant Professor from August 2007 to July 2010 at the University of Stavanger, Norway and as a lecturer at a number of universities & educational institutions in Sri Lanka. Presently he lectures Manufacturing & Production Engineering and Product Development at B.Sc. level, Welding and In-service Inspection Technologies for mechanical and structural engineering M.Sc. level. He also offers two PhD courses (‘Advanced Mechanical Design and Simulation’ and ‘PhD project topic in mechanical engineering and material technology’). He also delivers courses for practicing engineers in Oil & Gas industry and manufacturing sector in national and international level. He has been invited to numerous international level conferences as a speaker within the contexts of Asset integrity assessment and control, Health, Safety & Environmental issues, Sustainability, Maintenance, Criticality Analysis, Risk-based inspection and Reliability centered maintenance, Offshore Data Management, Human factors, etc. Currently, he participates and manages several European commission (EC) [Erasmus, Green Deal] and Norwegian [NORAD, Plogen, VRI] grant projects focusing on implementation on lean concepts and effective implementation of enterprise resource planning systems’ in the Norwegian industry. Professor Ratnayake supervises B.Sc. & M.Sc. thesis and 11 PhD research projects. He has made more than 200 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. He is an associate editor of the ASME Open journal of engineering, Central European Journal of Engineering (Industrial Engineering/Offshore Engineering) & SCIENCEDOMAIN international and a member of editorial board of International Journal of Computational Systems Engineering, Regional Editor Europe: International Journal of Adaptive and Innovative Systems. Biography
Tatjana Burzanović was born on April 23, 1964. in the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo (KoÅ¡evo), Bosnia and Herzegovina. In Sarajevo, she graduated from the "Ahmet Fetahagić" elementary school, the "Ognjen Prica" gymnasium, and the Academy of Fine Arts, in the class of Professor Mladen Kolobarić and Professor Radmila Jovandić Äapić, where she received her master's degree on the topic "Interrelationship between writing and printing". Tatjana Burzanović was the youngest pupil and student, since she started elementary school at the age of 5, and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts ( 4 years), at the age of 20. She received her doctorate in Belgrade at the Faculty of Art and Design, on the topic "Imanent logic of simultaneous and successive art - illustrations of the Bhagavad Gita". She is currently employed as a dean and lecturer at the Faculty of Design and Multimedia at the University of Donja Gorica in Podgorica. Tatjana Burzanović is the winner of several awards for her works in the country and abroad. She is a participant in a large number of collective exhibitions, and more than 20 solo , of which I single out the exhibition of 61 paintings using a combined technique, in the Petrović Castle in KruÅ¡evac, with which India celebrated the 60th anniversary of India's independence for the first time in Montenegro, as well as exhibitions in New Delhi and Calcutta (80 pictures), organized by the Government of India and the Embassy of India in Vienna. Tatjana Burzanović has been cooperate with the Embassy of India in Vienna more than 15 years. Shee is a lecturer at the Faculty of Culture and Tourism (University of Donja Gorica) on the subject Indian culture. Shee also teaches master's studies at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Donja Gorica, as well as doctoral studies at the same faculty. Tatjana Burzanović is a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Montenegro. She is on the list of experts of the Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education of Montenegro. She is an associate of the Center for Vocational Education, as well as the Ministry of Education, on the preparation of tests for graduation. Tatjana Burzanović is the author of several books that were translated into English by the Embassy of India in Vienna, two of which have been printed in America (Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana). For the book " Hymn of Man", she received the first prize for the best-equipped artistic bibliophile edition at the II Book Fair in Podgorica, among 130 exhibitors from around the world. At the 11th book fair, it received the first prize for the best equipped art bibliophile edition, for the book "Interrelationships of artistic worlds - illustrations of the Bhagavad Gita", among 150 exhibitors from around the world. Through her artistic and pedagogical work, Tatjana Burzanović explores the relationship between simultaneous and successive art, as well as mathematical analogies between the arts.
